The Story Behind Winston Sim: Made for Every Mile

Winston Sim isn’t a corporate brand, it’s a family tradition and tribute to the everyday rider, a legacy and a philosophy for two-wheeled journeys.

The rider behind the Flat Cap: Lance "Winston" Sim

The brand is named after our founder's Father, Lance "Winston" Sim — not a racer, world traveller or collector, but an everyday rider.
Pictured with a Enfield Trails 500, through the 60’s and 70’s Lance was a hard-working commuter who relied on his BSA C12 and Matchless G80 as his primary transport.

Rain, hail, or shine, he was on the road, his bike got him to work, ran his errands, carrying him through all of life’s challenges, every mile.

He didn't have the luxury of parking his machine when the weather turned; he needed gear that could endure the daily grind.

Now in his 80’s, the signature flat cap he wears to this day is now our logo. It stands for old-school, no-nonsense practicality and craftsmanship.

The Problem We Solved

As modern commuters and riders of classic, custom, and modern-classic bikes, we faced the exact same struggle Lance did, but with fewer good options. We were forced to choose between:

  • Modern synthetic bags: Bright, plastic-heavy gear that ruined the lines of a classic machine.
  • Cheap vintage replicas: Bags that looked the part but lacked real durability, weatherproofing, and secure mounting.

We built Winston Sim to bridge that gap.

Built for the Daily Grind and the Open Road

We combine a heritage aesthetic with modern, rugged utility. We build gear that handles the daily commute, then transitions seamlessly to a weekend road trip.

  • Premium Materials: 16oz waxed canvas, semi-vegetable tanned leather, and solid antique brass hardware. No cheap nylon, no plastic clips.
  • Smart Functionality: Rackless mounting options for a clean, minimalist daily setup, and rack-ready systems for long-haul touring.
  • Gear That Earns a Patina: This gear isn’t meant to stay pristine. Like Dads old bikes, it’s built to weather, scuff, and tell the story of your daily miles.

We don't build gear for the showroom. We build it for the road.

Welcome to Winston Sim.
